Contamination Peaks

  • If contamination is experienced during runs, the user may conduct a column bake-out on the Shimadzu column to rid any unwanted compounds.
  • To do so, please see the document titled “Column Bake-Out” attached below.
  • If the contamination is still present after completing the bake-out, the source of the contamination may be from one of several places.
  • The user must replace the following items to ensure the contamination is removed:
    1. Stock DCM solution
    2. Syringe used to transfer DCM into vials
    3. Syringe used to make up the Standard Solution
    4. Syringe used on the AOC-5000 auto-sampler
    5. Wash station vials
    6. Waste station vials
    7. Septum
  • If after completing a bake-out and replacing all of the above mentioned items the contamination is still present, then the user may replace the Shimadzu column.
